What is Reiki?

Reiki is the life force energy that flows through all living things.

Rei means Spiritual Wisdom.

Ki means Life Force Energy.

Reiki is a popular and beneficial Japanese healing modality that is utilized for health and wellness. It is based on energetic principles and is practiced in many hospitals, medical settings, and in private practice all around the world.

Reiki is an effective tool to help with stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. When the body and mind are relaxed, the body can work to repair and heal, and the mind can function with more clarity.

It is believed that a person’s energy should be strong and free flowing. When this is true a person’s body and mind is in a positive state of health. When the energy becomes weak or blocked it could lead to symptoms of physical or emotional imbalance.

What does Reiki feel like?

Reiki is done with a light touch or hands off where hands are held slightly above the body. You may feel tingling, heat, or energy, or a glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Most feel a sense of peace, wellbeing, and calm. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind, and spirit. It is different with each person and can be different each time you have a session.

What happens during a Reiki session?

Sessions last 60 – 90 minutes. I share what to expect and give my guest an opportunity to discuss any problems or issues they are experiencing and ask them what they are hoping to achieve from our time together.

I share about the Chakra System and go over handouts that I have for them.

Then laying on a massage table on their back, fully clothed, shoes off, I invite my guest to close their eyes and open their hearts. Beginning at the head and moving to the feet with specific Reiki hand positions, they feel relaxed.

It’s perfectly normal to have emotions come up after a session. Journaling is a great way to help move those emotions out of the body.

Reiki is used to promote wellness.

Reiki is not a cure for disease or illness; however, it can assist the body in creating an environment to facilitate healing.

Our body knows how to heal, we just have to get still enough to allow the healing to take place.

Here are some comments I’ve gotten from my Reiki guests.

“Wow! A full 24 hours of full calm and self-ease…what a gift! Thank you, Judy!”

“I experienced major healing. Judy was so supportive while I navigated my emotions and the process of healing.”

“I felt so relaxed!”

When we change the world changes.
