The Camino: From Releasing to Becoming

In 2024, I walked the Camino de Santiago for the first time.

I began that pilgrimage with two powerful intentions:

To leave behind the doubts about my worth.
To leave behind the fear of my greatness.

As I walked, I held those intentions close. Step by step, mile by mile, I allowed the Camino to reveal what I was ready to see and release.

And then, one day, Spirit gave me a vision.

I saw my family in Spirit standing before me. I recognized those closest to the front, but behind them were so many others; generations of people stretching farther than I could see.

My mom’s family was there. Even members of my dad’s family were there.

My mom’s family carried a tumultuous history. There had been so much pain, struggle, and suffering throughout the generations. Without realizing it, I had carried some of that generational pain as though it belonged to me.

Then they said:

“We endured this pain so you didn’t have to. This is not your pain.”

I felt the truth of those words in every fiber of my being.

It wasn’t mine.

It had never been mine.

I had not lived the childhood they lived. I had not experienced what they experienced. Yet out of love, loyalty, and perhaps a soul-deep desire to belong, I had carried pain that belonged to generations before me.

On the Camino, they gave me permission to put it down.

That first pilgrimage became a journey of leaving behind the doubts, the fear, the inherited pain, and the stories that were never mine to carry.

Now, in 2026, I walked the Camino for the second time.

But this pilgrimage felt different.

I did not return to release something. I returned to receive and allow.

My intention for this Camino was:

With every step, I allow myself to come into full alignment with the greatest version of who I am.

I allow myself to be held by the Universe.

The first time, I left things on the Camino.

This time, I moved toward alignment on the Camino.

I am allowing Spirit to move freely through me. I am opening myself to my soul, my intuition, my gifts, and the fullness of who I came here to be.

I do not need to earn my worth.
I do not need to fear my greatness.
I do not need to carry the pain of those who came before me.

I can honor them by living fully.

This Camino was not about becoming someone new. It is about allowing myself to be fully aligned with the truth of who I have always been. To remember who I am.

To allow myself to be held by the Universe. To allow the deep connection with the Universe without dismissing or doubting it.

The wonder and awe of the Camino brought much expansion; in ways I couldn’t have imagined.

It awakened within me a Connection that is undeniable. A connection with myself.

And I remembered who I AM—one sacred step at a time.
