Shine your light, show up as who you are

I had a realization recently that it takes much less energy to be myself than to be who and what I thought others wanted or needed me to be. Notice that I said what I thought others wanted or needed me to be.

I’ve always been highly intuitive; I just didn’t know that I was. I truly thought everyone knew what I knew, saw what I saw, felt what I felt, and heard what I heard (inside my head).

I’ve also always been very empathetic. I feel, in my body, the pain and emotions that others are feeling.

I thought everyone did.

I thought surely my husband must since he’s very sentimental and caring. One time when one of our loved ones was going through a tough time, I shared that my insides felt like a towel being wringed out and asked him where he felt it. To my surprise, he said he didn’t feel it in his body at all. He explained that he felt compassion and wanted to help them, but he didn’t feel it in his body. And did I mention that he gave me a funny look when he answered?

That let me know that everyone doesn’t experience what I do.

Before I learned to be intentional with my energy, I gave much of it away to other people’s challenges and discomforts. Not because they asked, just because I thought I could make their life easier. I could feel their discomfort as if it was my own and I needed them to feel better so I could feel better. I took it upon myself to “fix” everything for everyone. Except I forgot the only one I could really make changes in…me.

Transformation came as I was able to show up as me. I learned that I didn’t have to be sad or angry or depressed, or jealous when someone was, but I could have empathy for them and see them in a happier place.

When we shine our light, show up as who we are, we give others permission to shine their light and be who they are. We are saying, I see you where you are, and I know you have the power to change that. I’ll be right here by your side. I know you are capable of whatever you decide to do.

I am learning that I don’t have to take on the weight of the world. It didn’t help anyone, including myself when I was doing that.

Do you take on other’s challenges to a point where you don’t have time for yourself?

Do you find yourself trying to be everything to everyone in your life?

Are you intuitive? Do you know things and you don’t know how you know them or hear guidance or see signs?

These are some of the topics that we can dig into during mentoring sessions. Sign up here.

I also have a mastermind group starting in May!

For my local friends, I offer Reiki sessions.
