A few more things I’ve learned along the way

Our job is to figure out what our life is about. Knowing that our power comes from a source that is greater than ourselves and trusting that Source to guide us on our journey helps us find our way.

When we’re in fear, we’re not trusting our higher power; we are trying to do it on our own. We’re not meant to do it on our own. We are spiritual beings having a human experience. We’re here to learn love in a challenging place that has many distractions that don’t look like love. Learning love in those experiences is how our soul expands.

Don’t give your power to anything that doesn’t serve you. Instead, let’s use our power to create what we want in our lives. We have no power in any energy that is not our own. We must run our own race, live our own life. Fixing, too much helping, worrying, doesn’t serve either person.

Our true passion feels natural, it feels like breathing. Our passion is not a person, place, or thing that lives outside us that we stumble upon one day. It is what lights us up inside when we think or talk about it or do it.

Even though I’ve been doing hair for 41 years and love it, doing hair is not my passion. Never has been. Connecting with people is my passion. I love to have deep, meaningful conversations with people, that’s what makes me feel alive. When we pay attention to how we feel and what lights us up and find a way to do that as much as we can, we add meaning to our lives.

Pay attention to the things you do well. We are in the habit of obsessing over what is wrong and where we fell short of our expectations. Then we use those events as evidence that we’re not enough. What if instead, we used our energy to remember the things we did well every day by making a list of them at the end of the day. By putting our focus there, we feel good and look for more things to feel good about. What we focus on we will find more of.

When we change the world changes.
