Who Do I Want to Be? Living the O.B.S.E.R.V.E. Method

How to Stay Present Without Losing Yourself

Over the past month, we’ve been walking through a simple but life-changing practice called the O.B.S.E.R.V.E. Method

We’ve learned to:

Observe what is actually happening instead of immediately creating a story.

Breathe before reacting.

Sense what is happening within our own bodies.

Evaluate what belongs to us and what belongs to someone else.

Release the need to carry what was never ours to hold.

Today, we come to the final two steps.

These are the steps that transform awareness into a way of living.

V – Value

E – Embody

V — Value

There was a time when I made decisions based on one question:

What does everyone else need from me?

Many women have lived this way for years.

We become experts at reading the room.

Anticipating needs.

Keeping the peace.

Avoiding disappointment.

Making sure everyone else is okay.

Somewhere along the way, we stop asking ourselves a much more important question:

Who do I want to be in this moment?

Not…

How do I keep everyone happy?

Not…

How do I make this easier for everyone else?

But…

Who am I becoming?

Our values become our compass.

They remind us that we don’t have to choose our response based on someone else’s expectations.

We can choose it based on our deepest truth.

For me, that means choosing presence over urgency.

Compassion over control.

Trust over fear.

Peace over proving.

When I know what I value, my decisions become much clearer.

E — Embody

Wisdom isn’t measured by what we know.

It’s revealed by how we live.

Embodiment is simply allowing our actions to reflect what our hearts already know.

Sometimes embodiment looks like speaking up.

Sometimes it looks like remaining silent.

Sometimes it means offering help.

Sometimes it means trusting someone enough to find their own way.

Sometimes it means setting a boundary.

Sometimes it means opening your arms.

There is no single right response.

There is only the invitation to respond in a way that is aligned with who you are becoming.

I’ve realized that this practice always brings me back to one question:

When I look back on this moment, how do I want to remember the way I showed up and how I felt.

That question has changed everything.

It reminds me that my peace isn’t determined by someone else’s choices.

It isn’t determined by the outcome.

It isn’t determined by whether life unfolds the way I hoped.

It is determined by whether I remained true to myself.

Whether I stayed connected to my heart.

Whether I responded from love instead of fear.

Whether I honored both my compassion and my boundaries.

Becoming the Observer

At the beginning of this series, I shared that being the observer isn’t about standing back and doing nothing.

Now I would say something even deeper.

Being the observer is about becoming a loving witness to your own life.

It is choosing presence over panic.

Awareness over assumption.

Discernment over obligation.

Peace over control.

The observer doesn’t stop loving.

She simply stops abandoning herself in the process.

And perhaps that’s what coming home to yourself has always looked like.

Not becoming someone new.

But remembering the woman who has been there all along.

The one who already knows.

The one who already carries wisdom.

The one who can love deeply without losing herself.

A Final Thought

Life will continue to be beautiful, messy, joyful, heartbreaking, surprising, and uncertain.

Life will keep asking things of you.

There will always be moments when you’ll feel the pull to rush in, fix, rescue, explain, or carry more than is yours.

When those moments come, I hope you’ll remember that you have another choice.

Pause.

Observe.

Breathe.

Sense.

Evaluate.

Release.

Value.

Embody.

Not because this practice makes life easier.

But because it helps you move through life as the truest version of yourself.

And in the end, that may be the greatest gift you ever give yourself.

Practice the Pause

Before your feet hit the floor tomorrow morning, place one hand over your heart and take a slow, deep breath.

Ask yourself these two questions:

Who do I want to be today?

Then…

How do I want people to feel because of the way I show up?

Choose one word to guide your day.

Perhaps it’s:

Peace.
Presence.
Joy.
Grace.
Courage.
Compassion.

Write that word somewhere you’ll see it.

Return to it throughout the day whenever life asks more of you than you expected.

Let it become your compass.

Sacred Reflection

As you finish this series, I invite you to reflect on one final question:

If someone watched the way you moved through today, what would they learn about what you value most?

Not from your words.

Not from your intentions.

But from your presence.

Because the life you’re creating isn’t built in the extraordinary moments.

It’s created in the quiet, ordinary choices you make every single day.

And every one of those choices is an opportunity to come home to yourself.

When we learn to respond from that place of inner knowing, we don’t just change our own lives.

We become a quiet invitation for others to remember who they are, too.

May you remember that your greatest power isn’t found in changing what is happening around you. It is found in the loving presence you bring to what is happening within you.

This day is for the woman who has everything together on the outside and oftentimes feels quietly empty on the inside. Who has served, given, and risen above — and somewhere in all of that, lost herself in the process.

Remembering You is a sacred day retreat to help you find her again. Through story, art, movement, and the quiet power of being witnessed by other women — you will begin to return to what was never truly lost.

Only hidden.

This is a full day of immersive, experiential, heart-centered work — held in a small, intimate group of women. You will be held. You will be witnessed. You will be invited into the most important journey of your life — the one back to yourself.
