Keeping your vibration high
There was a time in my life, actually most of my life, that my ‘self-care’ was centered in self-neglect and self-loathing.
I say self-care because that’s the only attention I gave to my own needs, beating myself up for not doing more, better, faster, and for what I didn’t do.
No matter what I did, it was never enough.
What I didn’t know at the time was how important the way I felt was.
Feeling bad, being in a low vibration, was my normal. Feeling good happened when I got something new, went on vacation, or accomplished something I set out to do and was short lived.
I was so used to feeling low that when I did feel good, I was uncomfortable. I didn’t know how to feel good, and it was totally dependent on what happened outside of me.
Feeling good is our normal, believe it or not.
How we are feeling at any given time is an indication of our awareness of our Connection to ourselves, our Spirit. Not how connected we are, because the Connection is always there.
When we are in a low vibration place, we can feel like we’re alone.
Remembering that we are never alone can help us move through the disconnected feelings.
Our Spirit knows what brings us closer to our essence and what does not and uses our body to suggest when we’re moving away from our truest Self by the way we’re feeling.
One of the biggest changes I’ve made in my life is to pay attention to how I’m feeling and make feeling good a priority.
It didn’t happen overnight.
Little by little as I chose to take responsibility for how I was feeling, my story changed from one of being powerless to one of creating a life where I felt free, resilient, joyful, loving, and safe.
That doesn’t mean that everything is always going smoothly, it means that I know everything is temporary and will change.
I know that if I can keep my vibration high even during challenging times that I won’t get stuck there for days, weeks, months, or even years and can move through with more grace and ease.
We aren’t always in control of what happened or happens in our lives.
We are in control of how we move through those times. The contrast reveals to us grace, wisdom, and resilience as we emerge on the other side of it.
How do you feel most of the time?
How willing are you to pay attention and take responsibility for making the changes that are in alignment with how you want to feel?
I’m creating new and exciting events, workshops, classes, and groups for 2024!
I’ll be resuming self-care classes in person at The Strand, starting in December, when we will be talking about boundaries.
I’m excited to announce “Reclaiming your Energy: Mind, Body, and Spirit,” an in-person event in Columbia Mo. It will feature four speakers sharing about wellness. More info coming soon!
Message me for details if you’re interested in joining a mentoring group, in person and virtual options. Connecting with others who are committed to learning and growing provides support and accountability.
What a great way to start your commitment to self-care in the new year!
When we change the world changes.
