What is the void?
The void is a time in our life that we are between expansions. We accomplished or finished something and we’re waiting on the next thing to happen. It is the sacred space that holds pain and struggle as well as magic and miracles. The void is full of ‘boxes’ that we are meant to unpack. Boxes of emotions, regret, joys, sorrows, unworthiness, resistance, unfulfilled hopes and dreams and so much more. These boxes have been packed away and the lid put on tight, never to be seen, felt, or thought about again. We did this throughout our lives to cope with things we had no tools to cope with. Or we were too busy to deal with. Or we didn’t know how, and it was too painful to figure it out.
These things, however, hold clues to living our best life; to the freedom we all desire.
We are a spark of the Divine. We came here to express the unique spark we embody. That is our purpose. It doesn’t matter what our job is or where we live or what we have. We really all have the same purpose….to express ourselves and share that expression; we do that in a myriad of ways.
What we don’t realize is that those aspects we packed away are begging to be felt and released because they contain gifts for us when we’re willing to be with them long enough. Notice I said BE with them, not do anything with them. It is in the silence of being that our wisdom is unveiled. That’s where it’s at, in the void, the sacred, silent space inside all of us.
Unpacking the box of unworthiness brings the gift of acceptance of self, then others. With that, our lives change.
Unpacking the box of ‘I am a victim’ brings the gift of personal responsibility. With that, our lives change.
The work of opening and finding meaning in the emotions we have stuffed brings some of our greatest treasures.
Here are a few ways to release the emotions we’ve been holding on to:
Journaling is one of my favorite ways.
Screaming at the top of your lungs. (Preferably in the car with the windows up or when you’re home alone.)
Sit in your emotions and feel them; cry so you can move the energy out of the body.
Exercise. Hit a punching bag, walk, run, swim.
When we hold on to our negative emotions, we attract more of them. After a period of holding on to all that emotion, physical pain sets in to get our attention in a different way. It’s easier for us to ignore our emotional pain than physical pain. When we ignore that, it can lead to illness or disease.
When we change the world changes.
