We tend to start the new year with a list of goals to accomplish. Goals are important to keep us moving forward in our lives. They motivate us to grow and expand by reminding us of what is important to us.
Intentions can help us accomplish our goals by emphasizing our way to get there and help keeping us focused.
One of the most flawed beliefs we have is:
The more I accomplish or have, the more worthy I am.
When we believe that, our attention is drawn to evidence that supports it. We think we have to make lots of money, have bigger houses, cars, and vacations. All those things are amazing and add value to our life, but they don’t change our value.
The truth is that we can’t do anything that makes us more deserving than we already are. Our value is innate.
We deserve anything our heart desires.
Oftentimes the reason we want something is because of how we imagine we will feel when we have it. Did you ever think about that?
Can you think of a time when you’ve been disappointed after you got something you really wanted? Why were you disillusioned?
This year I invite you to focus on your intention behind your goals. Dig deep and find your ‘why’. Your why will determine how you perceive your experience, consciously or unconsciously.
My overall goal is to feel good most of the time. I spent so much of my life not feeling good and didn’t realize it, that was my normal. Now that I know what it’s like to feel good, I want to stay out of stress, judgment, and worry and focus on peace, acceptance, and trust. Some days that’s a minute-by-minute practice. Not to worry, I get plenty of reminders to keep me on task.
My intention for 2023 is all about freedom. What will yours be?
I free myself from all that is holding me back from living my life fully.
When we change the world changes.
