Why is it important to pay attention to our thoughts and how we feel?
What we experience in our lives is shaped as we process it through the lens of how we feel, what we think, and what we tell ourselves about it. As you can imagine, that can change from minute to minute.
We’re going to respond or react differently to situations, opportunities, people, emotions, and life in general, depending on our thoughts and how we feel inside in any given moment. That’s why it’s so important to pay attention to our inner world.
Do you pay attention to your thoughts?
As we become mindful of our unwanted thoughts and are diligent about replacing them with thoughts that feel better, we see things differently.
We can choose different thoughts.
Having a critical voice inside shapes our view of the world. What we experience in life, whether perceived as good or bad, is filtered through our criticism, that likely started when we were young. People in our lives were critical of us, and eventually we turned that criticism inward and became critical of ourselves.
I don’t know about you, but I’ve had a critical voice running a loop of negative thoughts in my head for much of my life. It was normal for me to think and feel negatively, so I didn’t even realize I was doing it. As I became aware and made changes, my life changed. I took responsibility for my thoughts, and I started to feel better inside, and my outer world reflected that.
If we have generally positive thoughts and feel good, we tend to see things in a more uplifting way, we look on the bright side. We notice what is good about a situation or person as we observe things that align with us.
Releasing negative thoughts and feelings allows us to feel better, lighter, and experience life from a place love.
2023 is all about self-care and being compassionate to yourself is a great place to start.
Do you find it challenging to treat yourself with the same compassion, support, and love that you give others?
If you said yes, you’re not alone, and that can leave us feeling bitter and resentful, causing negative, critical thoughts. Those thoughts can cause us to say and do things we later regret.
Having a critical voice can limit you. It can limit the opportunities you recognize. We miss connections and possibilities because our automatic thoughts are negative; why would he like me? I’m not smart enough, not pretty enough, not successful enough…
What can we do?
I can share with you the tools I’ve used to change my negative chatter, which has changed how I treat myself.
Each day’s challenge will be posted by 6 am February 14th – 18th in the group.
You will find all the information in the group and I will go Live in the group February 18 at 10 am central.
When we change the world changes.
