Where is Your Focus?
What are you focusing on this week? Take a moment to think about it.
Why is it so important to know what you’re focusing on? Because what we focus on and what we tell ourselves about that focus determines the quality of our experiences and ultimately the life we create.
Let me ask you this: how much time do you spend thinking about what frustrates you, what you don’t want, or what isn’t going your way? Or how often do you worry?
Worrying is like suffering for something that hasn’t even happened. It’s like praying for what you don’t want.
When we give our attention to things outside of our control—like the actions of others or circumstances we can’t change—we hand over our energy to situations that won’t serve us. It might be your co-worker not meeting expectations, a family member making choices you don’t agree with, or even a stranger at the store whose actions you judge. Thoughts like these are normal. The real question is, how much energy will you give them?
t If we continually direct energy toward frustrations, fears, and comparisons, we unknowingly invite more of that into our lives. But what if we shifted that focus inward? What if we placed our energy on the one thing we can control—ourselves?
The Power of Gratitude
One of the most transformative shifts in my life happened when I began to focus on what I had instead of what I didn’t. Practicing gratitude daily changed my perspective from lack to abundance. Suddenly, I saw blessings everywhere—things I had overlooked before. And you know what? The more gratitude I expressed, the more I felt I had to be grateful for.
Gratitude is a mindset that frees us from the trap of comparison. We often look at others’ lives, especially on social media, and assume their journey is effortless. But we don’t see the sacrifices, challenges, or hard work behind their success. By focusing on our own blessings, we honor our unique path, and the abundance already present in our lives.
Letting Go of the Past and Future
Another place we often lose focus is in the past or future. How much time do we spend replaying past mistakes or dreaming about a future where “everything will be perfect”? The past is unchangeable, and the future isn’t guaranteed. The only place we truly have power is in the present moment.
This moment is where life happens. When we focus on the now, we can intentionally direct our energy toward creating a life we desire. Otherwise, we unintentionally scatter our energy, giving it away to people and situations that leave us drained, settling for whatever remains.
Intentional Focus
So, where will you focus this week? Will you choose to focus on gratitude, abundance, and possibility? Or will you let your energy be consumed by worry, comparison, and frustration?
What you focus on determines what you bring into your life. By intentionally focusing on your growth, your blessings, and what you want to create, you take charge of your experience. You reclaim your energy and use it to design a life that is full of meaning, joy, and fulfillment.
Ask yourself:
What do I want to grow in my life?
How can I focus on gratitude today?
Am I using my energy intentionally or giving it away to what doesn’t serve me?
Shift your focus and watch your life transform.
What will you focus on?
What will you bring into your life this week?
Peace, harmony, stillness, joy, love?
Your focus is your superpower. Use it wisely.
When we change the world changes.
