Show yourself grace and compassion
Show yourself grace and compassion today, so that you can ripple it out to others.
Too often we judge ourselves for how we showed up, something we said or did, and that leaves us with judgement and bitterness inside.
As we come across someone that reminds us of what our inner critic says, we have judgement and bitterness to share with them. That’s not who we are, so we feel guilty, which causes the cycle to continue.
We can walk through life in this cycle for days, weeks, months, or we can become aware of it and disrupt it with compassion for ourselves.
We are responsible for our healing, our joy, our happiness; everything in our lives.
As we become responsible, we let others off the hook, we release the expectations we have of them doing certain things or acting a certain way so we can be happy.
And…we can’t make others happy, that’s their job.
Sometimes we forget (hopefully it’s not just me) that we’re human. We’re here to feel all the joy, love, compassion, hurt, anger, all the emotions, not to be perfect.
We don’t have to be perfect and we’re not always going to show up the way we want.
We can realize that these are opportunities for learning compassion for ourselves. That changes the energy to a higher vibration, and we feel better.
This is a busy time of year, and we tend to put so many expectations on ourselves and others.
Take some time to get quiet and fill yourself with compassion before you start your day.
Here’s an affirmation to help.
Close your eyes, put your hand on your heart, take a few deep breaths.
“I have love and compassion for myself now and always.”
When we change the world changes.
