My new office space

I thought I would share some pictures and the journey of creating a space that I love.

When my daughter recently moved out, I had the opportunity to have her bedroom as my office.

I dreamed about how it would look when I was in there writing. I pictured every wall, every corner, all the furniture, rugs, and accent pieces. I went over and over it in my head. I sat in the feeling of sitting at my desk in front of the double windows looking out at nature, sun shining in, pouring my heart out in my writing. One by one the things I dreamed of started showing up. I love to repurpose things, painting, staining, changing handles, making things look new and fresh. We already had all the flooring installed in the basement except for in my office, so we used the same flooring in there.

I wanted the wall that you first see when you walk into the room to have ship lap on it. My husband did some research about the different kinds of material, he’s great at that. We found some that we liked and installed it in a few hours. We had never done that before, so there was some learning involved (if you know what I mean!)

Another one of my favorite features is my “I AM” wall. I was in a mastermind group for three years with some amazing women. There was an abundance of love and support from every one of them. I wanted to remember that love and support every day, so I decided to ask each of them to give me a word that they thought of when they thought of me. Then my daughter cut the words out of vinyl, and we put them up on my wall. Every time I sit at my desk, I see those words and am reminded of the Love from my soul sisters.

I love the large window that my desk sits in front of. My husband hung a hummingbird feeder and other bird feeders close, and there is always a whirlwind of activity. I even rescued some baby birds by chasing a snake out of their nest. I frequently see squirrels, rabbits, and deer as well. Nature is fascinating!

I had a lot of help from my husband every step of the way, and my daughters; Megan for the I AM wall, Molly for the pictures, and son David for putting the flooring and trim in. I am so grateful, and I feel the love every time I walk in. I am inspired to create in this beautiful space and blessed to share it with you.

When we change the world changes.
