How is all the chaos affecting you?

Wow! It’s a lot out there!

We’re being constantly bombarded with news stories that carry varying degrees of truth. Not to mention comments on social media bullying and tearing down anyone who disagrees with each other’s point of view.

I read this on a post recently:

“You’re not healing to be able to handle trauma, pain, anxiety, depression. You’re used to those.

You’re healing to be able to handle joy and to accept happiness back into your life.”

This resonated deeply with me.

If you’re here with me, you are likely on a healing journey.

We are so used to upheaval in our lives that it feels normal to us. We know all too well how to navigate chaos.

For many years, I thought I was healing just to lessen the pain of guilt, shame, bitterness, resentment, and find forgiveness of myself. I would get waves of feeling better, but it didn’t last long.

I was still in survival mode.

As I healed, I began to feel lighter. Eventually joy and happiness followed.

It took a while for me to trust that joy and happiness could replace chaos as my new normal.

But it has!

I protect my joy and happiness by limiting my time on social media and I stopped watching the news. I read select articles that I find of value to keep informed.

I know that’s not the answer for everyone, but it has helped me stay grounded and feeling good.

I’m also not saying that everything in my life is easy and without chaos, or that I don’t occasionally have a relapse.  I’m saying that I no longer jump into the chaos and stay there for days, weeks, or months. I stay in my lane. I help what I can where I can but no longer let the chaos run my life and how I feel.

I let them…

I let them talk.

I let them walk away.

I let them have their opinions without judging. Curiosity is a great way to avoid judgement. “Isn’t that interesting”

I let them think what they want.

I let them see my heart.

Remember, we can’t control everything and everyone in our outer world, but we can control how we respond to it. That’s staying in our power.

What are you willing to do for yourself to move from chaos to having more joy and happiness in your life?

When we change the world changes.
