Growth

Growth

As I am evolving and learning I find more practices to implement into my routine that help me anchor the changes I’m experiencing.

Wouldn’t it be great if we could simply decide we were going to change, and somehow, magically it would just happen?

That is not the case, I can assure you, I have tried it that way. Real change and growth require commitment and consistency.

One of my favorite new practices involves asking myself a question at the end of my day, every day. That question is:

“How could I have been more?”

Asking ourselves questions, getting quiet enough to hear the answers, and maybe most of all being open to accepting the answer that comes, even when we don’t like it, helps us connect to our true self.

I close my eyes, put my hand on my heart, and ask how could I have been more, not with the intention of beating myself up, but with the intention of forgiving myself and doing things differently the next time. I replay my day in my head, looking for situations where I could have been more; kind, loving, patient, humble, authentic, honest, flexible, quiet, etc.

As I play the stories back and look at them honestly, I see places that I want to be more. Then I replay the story with the clarity I gained. I feel into it being the way I want it to be. This makes it easier for me to forgive myself because I resolve the feelings and commit to being more next time. Instead of getting stuck in places I fell short of what I wanted to be, I focus on what I want to be tomorrow.

We really do have all the answers inside. We have forgotten that because we’ve been conditioned to look outside and listen to what society and others think and say. We learn to trust that instead of our own Guidance.

Try getting quiet and asking yourself. Trust what comes up, move through it, and recreate the story in your mind. Create your life or it will create you.

When we change the world changes.
