Being your authentic self

When are you your most authentic self?

With family, friends, coworkers?

When you’re all alone?

A few years ago, my answer would have been, ‘only when I was alone’. That would be the only time I would let my guard down and just be me.

Now I can say that I am my most authentic self when I’m speaking, whether one on one or in front of an audience. When I’m sharing my thoughts and feelings is when I feel more myself than I ever have in my life.

How do you know when you’re your most authentic self?

For me, it’s when I get a feeling of total freedom. I am not thinking about what I will say, not listening to respond, or planning what comes next. My words flow effortlessly, without an agenda.

I am my most authentic self when I’m sharing who I am; the expression of me that I came here to be. That is why I feel so free when I’m doing it, it’s what I was meant to do.

We are meant to BE. Read that again. We have so many gifts inside that are just waiting to be shared. We only have to be who we came here to be, and the rest happens naturally. Sounds simple right?

Lots of things get in the way of our brilliant little child who was fiercely and unapologetically being themselves. We want approval, we’re afraid of what others will think or say, and the list goes on and on. We dull our shiny selves down with life’s struggles and become someone we’re not.

What if by doing this, we not only are missing our best but so are the people we love the most?

What if you spent some time remembering that fierce little boy or girl?

What did they like to do?

Connect with that part of yourself and feel the freedom. As your connection grows, your beautiful gifts will naturally be shared with others.

When we change the world changes.
